Hello, dear readers,
It feels so good to be back. I know it’s been a while since my last post, and some of you (all 13 of you) might have wondered where I disappeared to. The truth is, I’ve been on a journey—not a physical one (although wrangling your child sometimes feels like a marathon), but a journey of growth, learning, and reflection. I have also experienced a workplace injury that took up a lot of my mental and emotional capacity. While the injury may not seem like much and statistically it is very common for construction workers to develop it was new, scary and damaging to my belief in self as well as my perspective on life.
When I started this blog, my aim was to share snippets of my life and what help keeps me healthy as a young father—the joys, the struggles, the hilarity, and everything in between. But over time, I realized that to give you the quality and authenticity you deserve, I needed to pause, look inward, and draw inspiration from life itself.
Parenting is a constant evolution. Just when you think you’ve mastered one phase, your child grows, and you’re thrust into uncharted territory again. It’s humbling, exhilarating, and, yes, sometimes exhausting. But it’s in those moments of chaos—when the house is a mess, the baby is crying, and you’re running on three hours of sleep—that you learn the most about yourself.
During this hiatus being off work and not feeling inspired to post, I’ve been focusing on being present. I’ve spent more time playing silly games, reading bedtime stories, and having heart-to-heart talks with my little one. These moments have been my greatest teachers. They’ve shown me patience I didn’t know I had, joy in the simplest things, and a renewed sense of wonder.
I’ve also been reading, listening, and learning—not just about parenting, but about life. I’ve drawn inspiration from books, podcasts, and even those random deep conversations you sometimes have with strangers or work friends. Every experience, big or small, has added a layer of depth to my perspective.
Now, I’m back, brimming with ideas and stories to share. You’ll notice some changes in the posts going forward. They’ll still have the raw, honest voice you’ve come to know, but they’ll also be more reflective, more intentional. I still want to bring science based health and wellness that is fact checkable, but I want to also include some spiritual things I have learned. My goal is to create a space that resonates with you—whether you’re a parent, an aspiring parent, previously injured or just someone navigating the beautiful chaos of life.
I’d love to hear from you, too. What have you been up to? What’s been inspiring you lately? Let’s make this a two-way street, a community where we can share, learn, and grow together.
Thank you for your patience, for sticking around, and for being part of this journey. Here’s to new beginnings and the stories that connect us all.
With gratitude and excitement,
Smith
